Halcyon™ Pneumotachograph Design
Plethysmograph chambers are sensitive devices for monitoring small flows, like the respiratory wave of a mouse. Air currents outside the chambers can disrupt and overwhelm the desirable flows within the chamber. Foot traffic, door slams, fans, blowers, and air conditioners all make calibration and data collection more difficult and less precise.
The following graphic shows the effect of an external air disturbance on a chamber equipped with a conventional pneumotach.
Buxco chambers equipped with our patented Halcyon™ pneumotachs reduce external noise effects by as much as 25 times without the drawbacks of electronic or sofware filtering. This graphic shows the effect of the same external disturbance on a chamber equipped with a Halcyon pneumotach.
