Components
Unlike most other Buxco systems, the Paw Edema solution uses a dedicated version of BioSystem XA, with a special set of features. Options are provided for controlling your experiment – how many paws will be dipped, how many times to dip, duration of the data capture, etc.
The BioSystem for Edema software connects to a transducer which measures volume displacement in a well. The well can be filled with water or mercury. Data acquisition is controlled with foot pedals which change selections and capture readings. The pedals free-up the hands for manipulating the subject being studied.
Results
Buxco's edema system manages subjects in groups and reports data that way. Displacements are presented as paw volume averages, group averages, and standard errors.
