Cough Detection

Co-developed with The Novartis Horsham Research Centre, Buxco offers a software analyzer for counting coughs in guinea pigs using the whole body plethysmograph. The analyzer was developed to isolate coughs from other events, like sneezes. Cough count comparison of the automated analysis with manual methods shows a 99.68% correlation. The development was first presented in a poster at the World Cough Symposium in London in June 2004.

Buxco's cough analyzer allows audio monitoring of coughs and requires no external microphone.

Buxco's cough detection works with an unrestrained whole body plethysmograph (PLY4215) and aerosol delivery. Our advanced strain gauge preamplifier card (MAX2275) is used, along with a special daughter board for audio output.

Automatic (software) counts versus manual counts
