RC analysis involves measurement of flow and pressure – mouth, pleural, and /or esophageal. Flow can be measured using a plethysmograph chamber or an in-line pneumotachograph. Pressure can be measured with an external transducer or a telemetry implant.
Studies may be performed on anesthetized subjects, both ventilated and spontaneously-breathing, and on conscious subjects using an implanted pressure sensor. Anesthetized subjects can be studied repeatedly by intubating though the mouth or by using a mask.
Buxco's new FinePointe™ series all-in-one RC system is the ultimate for measuring resistance and compliance in rodents. This highly-integrated system requires just one USB connection and one power connection for each subject, simplifying operation and reducing bench space requirements. Each controller provides preamplification, analog-to-digital conversion, aerosol control, and a respiration pump. The system
